When it comes to Italian desserts there are some countries which simply do it better than others, although you will love the food where you came from other countries are experts at certain foods. When you think of Italy and food people often think of pasta and pizza but there are some amazing desserts as well. The Italian people love food and every course is a passion of theirs to prepare and serve the best every time, their desserts are some of the best in the world.
The desserts in Italy are called dolce which means sweet and quite often they are in fact very sweet, they are masters with chocolate, pastries and creams. These desserts are very popular not only in Italy but all over the world now and many restaurants will serve them on their menus. There are so many different desserts to choose from all of which are amazing. However, when you go to a restaurant you are bound to see one or two of your favorite desserts on the menu.
Cannoli, tiramisu and biscotti are favorites all over the world and these recipes are passed on from generation to generation ensuring they are perfect every time. Cannoli is a very sweet pastry shell which is filled with candied fruit, chocolate chips and ricotta. This dessert is one of the oldest in Italy and dates back thousands of years and still as popular today.
Tiramisu is one of the most well known recipe in Europe, it is biscuit fingers soaked in brandy and then covered with cream and mascarpone and left to set. The taste is exquisite and you will never want to leave a restaurant before having this desert. Biscotti are cookie dough which is double baked to make it crispy and then has almonds and chocolate added. They are then dipped in more chocolate before serving.
There are many other Italian desserts that you can try and you will never tire from all of the different varieties. Italian desserts are some of the finest you will taste and when you get home you will want to recreate the amazing flavors you have experienced. One mouthful of these fantastic desserts and you will imagine yourself in the amazing country. Although they are not the healthiest desserts in the world there is nothing wrong with indulging once in a while.
You will not be able to resist the Italian desserts when presented to you and unfortunately Italians do love to ensure their guests are well fed.
