Utensils Are Like Fingers
It seems like you can never have enough fingers when you are a cook, and when you are cooking Italian food this is almost an understatement. From whisks and pasta spoons, to ladles and wooden spoons the list can be endless. All of these tools will be used at one point or another, and each utensil seems to have a specialty dish that they work best for. The wooden spoon for example is a critical utensil, as it does not burn in a saucepan, and it keeps you from burning your hands if it is left in the pot for stirring purposes. Ladles of various sizes allow the cook to spoon large quantities of bases or broths from one dish to another, and are an absolute must for soups and stews.
Not All Pots Are The Same
When it comes to the Italian kitchen, you are going to see a great many pots adorning the walls or above the kitchen island. There is a pot for virtually any task, and each and every pot has a specific duty. There are saucepans and pasta pots, as well as frying pans and roasting pans. Some pots are so large that they could cook an entire fleet of lobsters at once, while other pots can be so small that they can hold but one tiny egg. Whatever the pot, you need to be sure that you are using the right pot for the job at hand. This will keep any and all pots available for what you are trying to do in the Italian kitchen.
Modern Versus Old School
When it comes to what type of kitchen tools you will find in the Italian kitchen, you merely need to look at the location of the kitchen itself. If this kitchen is nestled in a tiny home in Tuscany, then more than likely there will be very few if any modern cooking devices to aid the cook. This is because the cook is traditional and is accustomed to working with older more simplified devices that they know get the job done. You can elect to go this route if you want to be traditional, or you can have the best of both worlds and choose what electrical devices will help you most with your cooking in your own Italian kitchen.
