Learning the Italian language is a perfectly desirable skill that most people would love to have, and perhaps you may be someone who has learned it in the past and now just wants to brush up. The trouble for most people is their motivation could be lacking.
Perhaps they remember how it was all those years ago as a student at school who may have wanted to learn Italian (or another language). Now as they come to approach learning (again), it may remind them that perhaps they could have been more productive if they were allowed to be more creative. As adults, our experience tells us we are capable of so much more.
Most people who take part in some form of language learning can get into a frantic state. A real key part to learning is to get into a relaxed frame of mind and maintain it. Stay centered despite the fears and doubt that may creep up to the surface from time to time. Learning Italian can be seen as a more pleasurable pursuit instead of a frustrating undergoing.
Why?
It's important to know why you want to learn Italian. What aroused you to bring yourself to learning Italian? Why is this important? Because there will be time when you hit mental barriers and road blocks that can dampen your enthusiasm. Be ready for them and your reason for wanting to start learning will give you the very impetus to continue, despite any hurdle that life throws at you. Fulfilling your goal of learning Italian is a marvelous one and one which can lead to a more fulling experience.
Example
You're in Italy with friends and can quite confidently speak to an Italian native and more than hold a basic conversation. Not only does this amaze your friends, its also impresses the Italians you are talking to. The mark of respect and recognition you get can give your confidence quite a boost.
Okay, perhaps that example is pure vanity. My point is know what motivates you. Write down five reasons why you want to learn Italian. Place it somewhere in full view. Keep this momentum up and you'll have hundreds of reasons for wanting to learning Italian, and your ability to procrastinate comes down rapidly. Now you understand the power of self motivation.
Conclusion
There are many ways to learn Italian. The various methods of learning Italian have got to fit you and not the other way. You can use rote learning with a language tutor, work at your own pace at home using software that does work on the audio elements and thus helps to enhance memory recall, or there is a complete system online that uses all the above resources and more. No matter what tool you use they will not motivate you, only you can do that.
